Great Blue Heron Poker Tournaments

On December 29, 2015, the Oshawa Poker Series will hold a freeroll for up to 100 players. The winner(s) of this freeroll will get a free entry into a Great Blue Heron tournament, valued up to $1000. The number of winners will depend on the 2016 Blue Heron schedule. If the value of the Blue Heron tournament is less than the $1000 allotted, any leftover money will be given out as prize money.

Each week, there could be two separate winners. There are 46 weekly games in the yearly Oshawa Poker Series schedule. There are also 4 points winners, and 4 SET winners. Thus, each of the up to 100 people who win these games will be entered into this freeroll. If a player should qualify more than once, that player will receive an extra starting stack for every extra time they qualify.

The Oshawa Poker Series will use the exact same structure as the Blue Heron tournament that the winner will play in. The starting chip stack and blind structure (including antes) will be the same. The only difference will be the length of time of the blinds, which will be modified to ensure the tournament finishes on time. Click the “GBH Update” button for the blind info and starting stacks. These blinds and starting stacks may change, depending on the tournament structures of the GBH schedule.

Because the dates and structures of the Great Blue Heron tournaments change from year to year, the Oshawa Poker Series does will not know which tournament the winner(s) of this freeroll will qualify for. Once the Great Blue Heron posts their 2016 schedule, all details will be finalized.

Online Poker in Canada

The reason that some online poker rooms don't accept Canadians is because they are worried that in the future Canada might pass anti-gambling laws and then come after their companies, but this is a stretch at best. There are still plenty of Canadian poker sites that will gladly accept your business.

Canadian Online Poker Deposit Methods

If you wish to play online poker from Canada for real money, you will have to make a real money deposit into your poker account. Here are the most common methods Canadians use to deposit at online poker sites:

Credit Card Deposits

Credit cards are universally accepted by the three Canadian poker sites listed above. As long as your credit card is in good standing, you can instantly deposit at any site listed above. There are no fees for this poker deposit method.

Canadian eChecks

Each of the above poker sites also accept 'eChecks'. eChecks are payments made from your checking account, just as if you were writing a check. These payments are also instant, and just like credit cards, have no fees associated with them.

Other Common Canadian Deposit Methods

Besides just credit cards and eChecks, there are a few other common deposit options that Canadians can use to play online poker. Here they are:

  • eWallets such as Moneybookers, and Click2Pay
  • Ultra Prepaid Phone Card and PaySafeCard
  • EntroPay
  • Citadel and MyCitadel
  • Bank Transfer and Bank Wire
  • Web Money
